How You Can Help

We are seeking volunteers to help us in two distinct ways:

Fundraising and Thank You's

Outreach / Public Relations

More details will be posted here in the coming days, but we are looking for about two dozen volunteers to make this fundraising campaign equal to the great cause of recognizing the fallen heroes whose names appear on the Northwood Gratitude and Honor Memorial.

While many of the tasks will require a local presence, we invite interested people from anywhere in the country to help with this project. Much as we view the fallen as our neighbors regardless of where they called home, we welcome every volunteer as a neighbor who shares our commitment to honoring these men and women.

Fundraising and Thank You's

We are relying on some old fashion neighbor to neighbor type of involvement. You do NOT need to be an experienced fundraiser or organizer.

(1) We are looking for anyone willing to make a few phone calls and coordinate with other groups in the community who might be willing to help us raise money to finish paying for the memorial. We have a list of groups to contact and a script of what to say in explaining our project and what kind of help we are seeking. This can be done from home over the month of August.

(2) We are looking for people willing to man an information booth at various athletic events this October and November. You will hand out brochures and discuss the project with people just learning about the memorial. You will also accept contributions from people making donations at the event. This typically involves 2 or 3 people sitting at a table under a Northwood Memorial banner for a couple of hours. We will have specific events and dates posted in the coming weeks.

(3) Do you have nice handwriting? We are looking for someone to write and send thank you notes to our contributors, acknowledging their donations. We will provide the Northwood Memorial thank you cards and envelopes, stamps, the donor information and some sample language for the cards.

Outreach / Public Relations

Outreach / Public Relations

The Northwood Memorial is a national memorial created by neighbors here in Irvine. Over the years many people from outside of Irvine have made their way here to see the memorial. We would like to bring our memorial to the attention of the entire nation this fall.
